Animal habitats project pack is a printable English-language classroom resource for working with animal habitats, nature documentaries, outdoor observations or nature-themed CLIL lessons.

Students choose an animal or plant, collect key information and create an A3 poster. The project guides them to think about habitat, food, camouflage/adaptation, role in nature and human impact. The included speaking assessment rubric helps the teacher assess content, teamwork, creativity and presentation skills.

This resource can be used after watching a nature documentary, a short nature film, during an animal or habitat unit, or after an outdoor observation. It is not tied to one specific film.

The calm forest-themed design keeps the material visually attractive while still being easy to print and use in class.

Included:

  • group work poster project instruction sheets;
  • ICT-enabled version for lessons where students use computers or tablets;
  • animal habitat research table;
  • teacher notes / suggested lesson flow;
  • speaking assessment rubric with 3 levels: basic, good and excellent;
  • finished project example for students.

Useful for:

  • English lessons;
  • CLIL lessons;
  • nature and animal units;
  • speaking practice;
  • group work;
  • poster presentations;
  • simple project-based learning;
  • outdoor learning follow-up.

Language level: A2–B1.
Adaptable for stronger A1 learners with teacher support, vocabulary lists or sentence starters.

PDF files are ready to print.

I have personally used this resource after watching Backyard Wilderness, but the material is not tied to one specific film and can be used with any nature documentary, nature film or outdoor observation. This is an independent classroom resource and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the film creators.
